Selling a firearm should not feel like a guessing game. At Foothills Firearm Factory, Drew handles used guns and consignment in a practical, straightforward way.
You can bring in a functioning pistol, rifle, or shotgun and talk through your options. In some cases, Drew may buy the firearm outright. In other cases, consignment may make more sense if you want the gun displayed in the shop and sold to another customer.
The goal is simple: give you a fair, respectful conversation and handle the paperwork properly.
Fair Discussion
Drew will ask what you are hoping to get for the firearm first, so the conversation starts from your expectations rather than a lowball number.
In-Store Exposure
Consignment firearms are displayed in the shop where local customers can see them, ask questions, and complete the proper transfer process.
Proper Paperwork
Foothills Firearm Factory keeps records and handles the required firearm paperwork so the transaction is handled seriously and legally.
Consignment
How Gun Consignment Works
With consignment, you leave the firearm with Foothills Firearm Factory so it can be displayed for sale in the shop. You set the asking price, and Drew can give practical advice about what is realistic for the current market.
If the price is too high, the firearm may simply sit for a while. Drew has shelf space, so there is not an immediate rush, but he may recommend an adjustment if the market is not responding.
When the firearm sells and the transfer is complete, payment to the seller is usually made by check.
Consignment Fee
For items under $500, Drew makes a minimum of $50. For items over $500, the shop commission is 10%.
Seller Sets the Price
You set the asking price. Drew can advise if the number seems out of line with what buyers are likely to pay.
Displayed In-Store
Consignment firearms are shown in the shop, not handled as a separate online auction or complicated listing process.
Payment After Transfer
Payment happens after the sale and transfer are complete so everything stays clean and properly handled.
If you later decide to take back a firearm that has been consigned to the shop, you may be required to complete Form 4473 and pass the required background check before taking possession again.
Outright Purchase
Want to Sell a Used Gun Directly?
Drew may also buy used firearms outright. This depends on the firearm, condition, demand, and whether it makes sense for the shop.
The process is respectful. Drew will usually ask what you want for it first. If the number is realistic, the conversation can continue. If it is way out of line, he may simply say he is not interested rather than insulting you with a number.
In many cases, Drew’s offer will be better than pawn shop pricing, where the offer may be based on roughly half of dealer price.
